What is the ID Game?

The ID Game is a game based on the classic 20 Questions game. The computer attempts to guess what object (in this case marine species) you are thinking of. It attempts to do this within 20 questions.

We hope that this game, albeit fun, could help aquarists identify certain of the species of marine organisms that they keep.

How does it work?

The ID Game is very simple. The computer will choose a question to ask you. You choose the answer best suited. After you answer a question, the computer will choose the next question to ask you based on the previous answers you provided. After a certain number of questions (usually after about twenty questions), the computer will provide you with the name of the species that it thinks you are thinking of.

If the computer guesses correctly, then please click on RIGHT. This will help the artificial intelligence engine to teach itself to become more accurate with future guesses.

If the computer however guesses incorrectly, then please click WRONG. You will then be presented with a screen on which you can type a question and an answer. The question should be one to which the answer is YES and which distinguishes your species from the one that the computer guesses. These questions and answers are moderated to filter out invalid questions and answers provided by the public. This also helps the artificial intelligence engine to grow it's brain.
